Kula Fields Boxes 06-04-14

When you get a call from a grower on the Big Island that claims they need help with over 1000 lbs. of mango…what is one to do? That’s right, drool.  And then when a grower sent me a picture of the gorgeous purple daikon radish that he’s growing…it was so pretty I couldn’t say no.  Then there was the okra grower…I love variety and I love okra. These guys just kept coming at me with such beautiful options. Decisions, decisions!
It was a nice change of pace. Things are starting to look up for most farmers and get back on track after the treacherous winter and Spring we’ve had. Strawberries are still in low supply, if at all. I bet when they finally get going this year that they will be the sweetest, juiciest berries that we’ve seen in a long time. Fingers crossed!
